June 7,
2005 - Online
Video Service, a leading
national provider of
webcasting services,
announced the successful
completion of a
partnership in one of
the most historic
webcasts in the history
of Washington State. In
partnership with
TVW, which provides
unedited television
coverage of state
government deliberations
and public policy
events, OVS webcast
gavel-to-gavel coverage
of the state Republican
Party’s
challenge before a
superior court judge of
the election of
Democratic Governor
Christine Gregoire. OVS
and TVW also webcast
Monday’s ruling.
Chelan County Superior
Court Judge John Bridges
Monday rejected
Republican claims of
fraud and refused to set
aside the election
results. Dino Rossi,
Gregoire’s Republican
challenger in the 2004
gubernatorial election,
decided after the ruling
not to appeal.
OVS President Tim
Treanor said he was
proud to make the
historic trial available
to webcast viewers
nationwide. Hits to
OVS's streaming servers
indicate several
thousand people across
the country viewed at
least part of the trial
online. The trial lasted
about two weeks.
“The traffic we saw
demonstrates not only
the intense interest in
this trial, but also our
ability to deliver to
governments and other
organizations
high-volume streaming
media services,” Treanor
said.
