March 15,
2007 - Online
Video Service, Inc.
(OVS), the recognized
leader in Internet
broadcasting for public
affairs, reported today
that it has renewed its
contract with the U.S.
Nuclear Regulatory
Commission (NRC).
OVS has had the
exclusive contract to
broadcast the NRC’s
proceedings on the
Internet since 2004. To
date, the company has
delivered more than 80
webcasts and an
extensive archive of on
demand content with a
zero percent failure
rate – a notable
accomplishment in a live
broadcasting context in
which the stakes are
high and the risks are
numerous.
“We are proud to renew
our contract with the
NRC,” commented OVS
Chairman and CEO, Tim
Treanor. “The
innovative, remotely
managed webcasting
solution we have in
place at NRC was the
first of its kind in
2004 and remains the
‘gold standard’ for
Internet broadcasting
among premier federal
agencies.”
OVS has distinguished
itself from competitors
by offering remotely
managed webcasting, a
proprietary Internet
broadcasting platform
that the company
developed with the help
of leading experts in
government webcasting.
Most competitors
typically either send a
webcast team to a
client’s event venue or
broadcast audio from a
conference call on the
Internet – services
which OVS also provides.
OVS has also
successfully developed
protocols and
methodologies that
ensure full compliance
with the highest levels
of federal security,
such as those measures
in place at the tightly
controlled NRC
headquarters in
Rockville, Maryland
where certain OVS
equipment is located. A
complete archive of NRC
webcasts can be found
online at
http://video.nrc.gov.
About the NRC
The U.S. Nuclear
Regulatory Commission
(NRC) was created as an
independent agency by
Congress in 1974 to
enable the nation to
safely use radioactive
materials for beneficial
civilian purposes while
ensuring that people and
the environment are
protected. The NRC
regulates commercial
nuclear power plants and
other uses of nuclear
materials, such as in
nuclear medicine,
through licensing,
inspection and
enforcement of its
requirements. More
information about the
NRC is at
