March 28,
2009 - Online
Video Service, Inc.
(OVS) announced that the
company successfully
webcast a live,
continuing medical
education (CME) event
for Medical Edge
Communications of New
Jersey (MedEdge) that
integrated real-time
participation from
viewers around the
country and was
broadcast from St.
Louis, Missouri earlier
today.
“We are delighted to
have helped MedEdge to
cost-effectively extend
the reach of its CME
event to an overall
audience 2-3 times
larger than the number
of people who typically
attend on site,” said
OVS CEO Tim Treanor. “MedEdge’s
novel approach of
involving participants
from across the nation
at the same time also
made this webcast a
uniquely engaging
experience for those who
took part.”
OVS provided MedEdge
with its full featured
CME webcast package,
which the company has
developed by working
closely with leading CME
providers across the
United States. A
registration module
allowed MedEdge to
measure online
participation and assess
return on investment by
understanding audience
data such as name,
educational degrees and
specialty. Integration
of live video and
presentation slides from
the primary event venue
enabled the presenter to
show case “vignettes”
effectively during the
program. A branded media
player reinforced the
look and feel of
MedEdge’s online
presence. In addition,
the OVS administration
module gave MedEdge the
ability to monitor
questions being asked by
participants online,
registration data and
actual participation.
Some participants even
went out of their way to
thank MedEdge for
broadcasting the CME
event on the Internet.
On the day of the event,
adverse weather caused
various travel
interruptions – one
online audience member
called the OVS toll-free
technical support line
to thank MedEdge for
webcasting the program
so that she did not have
to drive in dangerous
conditions and could
instead view from the
comfort of her own home.
OVS’ video broadcast
services were used for
on-site video signal
acquisition and
encoding, and
distribution of the
webcast in a format
optimized for MedEdge’s
end users. The company
worked closely with the
nationally recognized
event and video
production company MiLe
LLC, with which OVS has
partnered to deliver a
number of CME webcasts.
The zero failure rate of
collaboration between
OVS and MiLe reflects
the rigorous planning
and implementation
coordination the two
companies have developed
together.
Use of OVS’ Internet
broadcasting solutions
for the MedEdge CME
webcast builds on the
company's growing
reputation as a leading
provider of online
learning services. The
company has seen a sharp
rise in the number and
frequency of webcasting
for continuing
education, as many
content producers
recognize the
opportunity to extend
the reach of an event to
a much greater audience
online at a modest
marginal cost.
