Is the Government Cool Enough to Tweet?

February 15, 2010 - Online Video Service, Inc. (OVS) Vice President for Business Development Joshua Folk is a featured commentator in the January 2010 issue of the NAGC Communicator, the official newsletter of the National Association of Government Communicators.  In his commentary, entitled "Is the Government Cool Enough to Tweet?" Folk address the issue of whether government agencies ought to invest time and resources in utilizing emerging social networking technologies such as Twitter to increase communications with stakeholders and citizens.

“The current Administration is a huge advocate of social media. Its use of blogs, Flicker, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and live webcasting is making these technologies increasingly popular," writes Folk. "The belief in a more open government is the driving force for the use of these technologies, but since when did government agencies become hip enough to use social media?”
