Webcast Sponsored by U.S. Department of Transportation/PHMSA
The Pipeline Safety Trust will host our 5th annual pipeline safety conference where we will once again bring together a unique mix of experience from the affected public, local government, the pipeline industry, and pipeline regulators to discuss the hard issues and create greater understanding to move pipeline safety initiatives forward. Mark your calendars now and plan to join us!
We’re in the final stages of putting together our program. Planned conference topics include the implementation of the Pipelines and Informed Planning Alliance (PIPA) recommendations, damage prevention, PHMSA’s community technical assistance grants, and the industry’s public awareness programs. We’re also working to line up several high-ranking federal officials to talk about the ways that all of us can work together to improve pipeline safety.
This nation’s pipeline safety program is also up for reauthorization from Congress this year, and because of the Gulf tragedy, opposition to a number of proposed new pipelines, and a spate of high profile pipeline incidents from Texas to Michigan, Congress is paying closer attention than normal. We will have speakers to help describe what Congress has focused in on.
Besides these presentations, don’t forget the conference’s great networking opportunities. It’s the only “all-inclusive” pipeline safety conference in the country: one that’s open to everyone in the pipeline safety community. So you’ll get information and perspectives from industry, the public, elected officials, and regulators from around the nation.
